On the last night of Chanukah, a special party and celebration was held for the dearest members of our community, our Holocaust survivors and war veterans. These people are true heroes, who lived through the hardest of times. Today they are a beacon of light in our city, and they teach and guide our youth and younger community members. The highlight of the event was a performance by our very own Jewish seniors choir, which sang songs in Yiddish, Hebrew and Russian, raising ev
Miriam has no family; they were all killed in the war, and she never had children. For Miriam, her whole life is the shul, and her ‘family’ is the Jewish community.
Despite having witnessed violent pogroms and horrific atrocities during the Holocaust, Miriam expressed her heartfelt feelings when she lit the Chanukah candles.

Rostov's Chanukah celebrations continue, with a splendid and fun ice skating party geared towards our youth. Skating contests and races were held, snowmen were built, menorahs were lit, and a great time was had by all.
